Hopefully everyone is enjoying their Labor Day Weekend. At Diamond Bar Sporting, Labor Day means Labor! We spent the first part of the weekend planting Japanese Millet and other assorted duck friendly feeds around the shoreline of our top lakes. Along the way young Alex managed to shoot his first cotton mouth. The matrons of Diamond Bar Sporting reacted better to this news than I would have expected.
We have also gotten started on our traditional winter wheat project, which has proven to be just as attractive to the geese as it is deer. We've actually had geese around for most of the summer this year, which is a first for us as far as I know.
Hopefully you all are enjoying your Labor Day Weekend. To be honest, it wasn't all work for us. We did manage to sneak in some rest and relaxation. Last but not least, let me expresss a special thanks to Terry Dupree from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for his helpful advice this year.
PS - Waterfowl season dates have been set for Oklahoma. Here at Diamond Bar Sporting (Oklahoma Zone 2), the duck season will run Nov. 7-29 and then start back up Dec. 12 and go through Jan. 31.
